Looking for open source linux / android stress testing software. Specifically to test storage / ram / cpu / gpu etc. Same goes for android but to also include tests for the screen / speakers / sensors etc.

I’ve got one of those crazy-wide screens that I usually use at 5120x1440 and it’s great. However, since I work remote, I often want to share my screen with someone on a typical 16:9 screen and the options of “tab”, “window” or “entire screen” aren’t particularly useful because I need to switch between windows a lot as part of the sharing session: terminal, IDE, browser, back to the terminal, etc.

Ik I can use grep to find filenames with specific characters and then print that to a list but idk how to utilize said list to rename. I found another solution which’s using mv but couldn’t figure out how to make it work w subdirectories. I think using both grep and mv in unison’s the answer just idk how to do it. plz halp

Hello, I will soon have to setup a small GPU HPC cluster with few servers. It is not something I have ever done, I did setup servers and manage them but not sometof this scale with several users.

Me and my 2 other friends were planning to play fifa on my computer last night. I have 3 gamepads. One is xbox one controller. I use cachy os and I couldn’t connect my xbox gamepad. I connected it actually but the laptop was not able to understand that was a gamepad. It didn’t worked. I tried for 1 hour and my friends just laught ar me because of i use linux. And the worst part, if it was windows we would have no problem. Anyway, do you have any suggestions cause i thought cachy might not be the best option for gaming. I dont want dual boot my laptop, i hate windows

Ubuntu is the leading distro, if I’m not mistaken. It’s also compatible with Mint, Zorin, Xubuntu, etc, which are another leading distros than Fedora. Is it only for redhat users or secondary distro?

Edit: I just had to restart the computer - perhaps a login-logout would’ve sufficed for the udev rules to take effect? (brightnessctl adds some rules to allow non root users in the video and input groups to manipulate the necessary device, in my case intel_backlight.)

I’m having an issue in linux mint 22.3 cinnamon where the GUI locks up but audio still plays and the mouse cursor still moves. The solution is to press ctrl+alt+f1 to take me to a terminal and then press ctrl+alt+f7 to go back to the GUI. Then everything works fine. Forgive me, I do not know what to call the terminal when accessing ctrl+alt+f1 other than tty1.

My current charger is broken, but I found another charger which kind of fits, but im suspicious if it will harm my laptops battery in the long run, what commands can I run or what can I look at to see if a new type of charger is harming a laptops battery? as this isnt usb-c or anything really official.

I’ve tested the ‘troubleshooting mode’, which opens with all defaults and no extensions, but still the same issues. Ungoogled chromium seems to work, but that’s not a browser I’d like to use. I am looking for help on how to run closed source / pirated games on linux within a virtual machine. I would like to start by saying if I could walk into a shop and buy with cash, a game on a CD like in the old days I would. I have recently become very privacy conscious and until I figure out a way to anonymously and privately purchase things like this I am going to stick with pirating. Hello, I am currently thinking about getting a PineTab2. I need a new tablet because my old one starts come apart day by day and I want to switch to Linux as much as possible. I use my tablet mostly to write (LibreOffice and LaTeX), organize personal documents and data, visit some websites on my breaks and really rarely to code simple little tasks in Python (I mostly did this while I was still in university). So would the PineTab2 be a good product for all this? Has anybody experience with it or own one themself? My Linux experiences are limited but not non existent. Thanks in advance.
