It's hard to imagine any non-car-based technology being given so much freedom to experiment on public streets with only the iffiest of safety protections.

Tesla Robotaxis drive like they're drunk, and that's probably an unfair comparison for the drunk drivers.

Pretty bold to have launched in a city that already has a functional driverless cab service, and with people that now have expectations of something good. I don’t know how delusional they must be to think they will compare well to Waymo.

    Robotaxi drives into oncoming lane
    Rider presses “pull over”, Robotaxi stops in the middle of an intersection, rider gets out while Robotaxi blocks intersection for a few moments
    Rider presses pull over and the car just stopped in the middle of the road. Safety monitor has to call rider support to get car moving again
    Robotaxi doesn’t detect UPS driver’s reverse lights (or the car reversing towards it) and continues to attempt to park, then safety monitor manually stops it
    Robotaxi cuts off a car, then randomly brakes (potentially because of an upcoming tree shadow?)
    Robotaxi going 26 in a 15
    Robotaxi unexpectedly brakes, possibly due to nearby police
    Robotaxi unexpectedly slams on brakes, causing rider to drop phone
    Robotaxi comes to a complete stop after approaching an object, then runs it over (rider says it’s a shopping bag, though the car visibly bump up and down)
    Robotaxi runs over curb in parking lot
    Safety driver moved to driver seat to intervene

I'm sort of baffled by the range. "Ten or so" is the commonly reported number I saw, so I ran with that, but I have also seen higher estimates.

Like, surely, Tesla needs to report the exact number to the state, right? How is it possible that we don't know, it's just such a bootleg setup.

Lol it's so hard to listen to.

Ooop looks like we just ran over a small child but you know what the car didn't even hesitate and they say that really, it's safer for the driver and the traffic around to not hesitate so, kudos to Tesla for taking the safety of everyone in mind. Also, with that adaptive air suspension system, I hardly felt the body. This is like riding on a cloud. And there's NO driver! I mean this is incredible guys, really.

Stops in a live intersection to drop off the passengers... Then stays stopped in a live intersection until the user completes the ride.

Are they supposed to drive like assholes for effect?

The human safety operator just placidly smiling as he drops them off directly in an intersection (in the line of travel of a pickup truck) was pretty funny.

As if to say: "Go on. Go out and get what you paid for."

It's just bananas.

Hard to put a finger on it, but there's persistent questions about stock price fixing. A constant joke across Tesla-watching forums. I wouldn't touch that stock with a ten foot pole, it's got a fuse and I'd bet dollars to donuts it is already lit.
