I can’t put a finger on why but it feels cool. And Gopher? I remember I wanted to get into it one day
Care to expand some?
I was a relatively early user of Gopher, from 1994 up until 1997.
How was it?
Mostly informative. There wasn’t much trash on the Internet back then. A lot of magazine articles, news papers, university resources, etc.
Right, those were different times
Yoooooo ActivityPub on Gemini?? That’s AWESOME!! Now combine it with [this](https://tomcasavant.com/i-posted-to-mastodon-1-mile-away-from-an-internet-connection/?Fedizen.EU), mwahaha.
I’ve been sitting here in the U.S., anxiously watching various legislations creep through, and waiting patiently for AP implementations on alt-internets to emerge lol. Gemini protocol still requires TLS, right? Is it maybe in some ways potentially just as susceptible to censorship, but much less likely to get noticed/targeted at all?
@innermeerkat@jlai.lu is playing with gemini and piefed :)
It's not exactly 'on alt-internets', the federation part is nothing special, just HTTPS and ActivityPub. Only the UI and user authentication are done the Gemini way.
Ohhh i see! Still very cool though ❤
Thank for sharing this cool project :)
