COSMETICS retail giant Lush has closed all of its UK stores in protest at Israel’s actions in Palestine.

Lush, which operates more than 100 stores across the UK, has also closed down its factories and website for the day. Visitors are instead greeted with a page in the colours of the Palestinian flag which reads: “Stop starving Gaza. We are closed in solidarity.”

Lush said it hopes to push the UK Government into greater action by depriving it of a day's worth of tax revenue from its business.

I don't normally commend retail giants but that's pretty fucking cool

Hey, I'd be much less critical of capitalism if the average business operated with ethics and morality, so this is good.

Though, I hope not, but I suspect they've done analytics on their customer base, and determined the cost/benefit (advertising, etc) of doing this is likely several times greater than the loss of 1 days profit.

It doesn't mention if they've screwed all their staff out of a days pay either. Action like this could impact the livelihoods of their thousands of workers.

Of course they have. I mean, you didn't think they did this because it was the right thing to do did you?

NOTE: I wasn't intending to be insulting to you, but rather just reminding everyone that the purpose of a corporation is to maximize profit.

Still better that Walmart I guess.

Just because that's the norm, doesn't make it guaranteed.

Lush is probably a bit different than most retail giants.

So was Google at one point.

No, Google just pretended to be. They were always snakes.

I was under the impression they didn't turn evil until they started hiring a bunch of Microsoft execs.
