A nearby school has just finished construction and is planning to open next week. However, it’s already been struck multiple times by bullets escaping a shooting range a mile or so away. They’ve released notices telling people to avoid one side of the building due to the stray bullets and adjusted activities to the late evening when the range is closed.

Does Star Trek's USS Enterprise Design Make Sense? | Adam Savage’s Tested

Community icontenforward@lemmy.world by

We welcome to the cave designer and illustrator Matt Cushman, the artist behind some of our favorite science fiction cutaway illustrations from Star Trek and Star Wars. Matt shares with Adam his new massive cross-section poster of the original USS Enterprise, sized as large as the original 11-foot filming model. We scrutinize the details of this incredible piece and learn all the ways Matt made sense of the interior layout based on what was shown in the original series episodes!

In the 1980s, Nintendo didn't release the original Super Mario Bros. 2 outside Japan because "the game was too difficult for western audiences" - to which Working Designs states "...and I took that personally"

Context: Working Designs was a studio that localized several Japanese games for western markets in the 1990s. Besides translation, they would often increase the difficulty of the games they translated

Around half of vaccines are wasted each year globally, according to the World Health Organization. Many are lost because they get too hot or cold. Most of AI usage could be easily (with a little bit of effort) replaced by just searching for the info you need, but those days search results are so poor that asking AI gets so advantageous for the average user (that don’t care / don’t know about privacy and other costs and risks that come with it)

I never really tolerated this take on the show. And how many often accused Matt and Trey of being libertarians or even downright bigots even though they’re trying to make a socialist statement on civilisation or the topic of the week like gay marriage and treatment of disability in media and how people could potentially be faking it for exploitation both of which were actually very well done and progressive especially the tourettes example.
