The cracks are showing. The US empire is in decay. What will the world look like once it’s no longer able to bully everyone? What do we have to look forward to both inside and outside the imperial core?
I can’t move my neck like that. Been thinking about learning how to and searched up for tutorials.
Saw this video that seemed good for people who are absolute beginners, because many others had people aleady moving their necks. Have tried it for 2 days, but neck isolation not yet possible.
I keep hearing stuff like that Poland has bad air and that only half the locals are nice and such and that Italians are so much friendlier, the country’s sunnier, and “don’t ever go to Poland, you wouldn’t like it there”.
If English wasn’t your first language, maybe if you learned English later in life, were there any words that you had a really hard time learning how to pronounce? Do you think that had to do with the sounds made in your first language?
For me its the old fans and vacuum cleaners. Over 40/years old each and still going strong. Clear labeling inside and have been fixed up multiple times.
I have a Keychrom K7 Pro with brown switches. I like the low profile keycaps and QMK has become a necessity. I am curious about red and blue switches. I understand the difference between all the switches and have keycap testers, which include many others, but I’ve not had the chance to type on all three.
I have a boss who tells us weekly that everything we do should start with AI. Researching? Ask ChatGPT first. Writing an email or a document? Get ChatGPT to do it.
I believe I heard something about Maria Teresa not treating his patients and telling them pain were caresses from the lord or something like that and moving donations to private accounts.
Just that. Someone uploaded this photo of Zelensky allegedly taking a selfie in Kupiansk, which is supposed to be a city already taken by Russian forces. I am not really informed of the situation in Kupiansk, but this is not the issue for me.
Hello, comrades! I recently decided to peruse Rumble, as some of the channels on youtube have migrated there. I watch pred catching vids and youtube has cracked down on them. Anyways, on a whim I decided to check out the politics/news section. There’s a bunch of less than intelligent creators but every so often I’ll find a leftist video channel. Not many, but my journey has a long way to go. Anyways, does anyone else look for leftists on alt video/conservative video sites?
I’m aware that in many cases the answer is simply, “they don’t,” as many people don’t seem to have the historical or theoretical curiosity to investigate it. However, I genuinely want to encourage more cerebral discussion around here, so I’ll give a brief rundown.
Assuming that in the future most jobs will be replaced by artificial intelligence or other advanced systems, is it (in your opinion) highly likely that the powerful figures of this world would want to commit genocide against a large part of the world’s population, or would we be dealing with true philanthropists?
hi everyone) whats interesting i can do in lemmy? i want find some russian language communitys and python programmers communitys. pls can u help me with it?
I’m going to be delivering an online intro to programming session to a non-technical crowd who will be “following along at home”. Because it’s online, I can’t provide them with machines that are already set up with an appropriate development environment.
I personally like to minimize name changes as much as possible because usually, the current name Just Works and I don’t really think it’s worth it to break muscle memory or replace signage and stuff.
Maybe this is just me imagining things and is being completely wrong.
I have just been thinking about this question and especially after watching Home Alone 2 in New York. It may just be that I think it looks more crowded in the movies because it actually is a set filled with people, but also there probably should be some truth to it as you now can do so much online that makes people able to stay inside instead of walk to a location.
I created a video channel on a PeerTube server, but its service quality is poor, so I have migrated everything to another server. The first server’ channel is still open, but I have a migration notice on the channel’s home page.
it’s footage made by the Americans to be shown to the court and possibly to the German public to advance denazification. It begins with a map of occupied Europe and the names and locations of the main concentration camps.
I think even a bad translation is better than no translation at all, but for some reason the majority of books don’t seem to get translated. Why is that?
Example: I have a book which I wanna archive. Would sending a zip with the pages take less storage than sending the, let’s say, 10 individual pages sparatedly?
We all know the meme, but most of the time it’s referenced about someone shitty saying something you already agree with. What I wanna hear about is a time when someone who you broadly disagree with actually gave you some kind of new insight about something - even if you didn’t end up coming around to their point of view. Maybe they gave you a piece of a puzzle that you were missing, but then you built on that in a completely different way.
You know that feeling when something gets said so many times that people just start treating it as fact, no matter how shaky it was in the first place?
I feel it is an obligation for any older folk to pass wisdom to those not-in-the-know of things regarding life. Some people are born directionless and they get lost in their lives and before they know it, they’re knee-deep in debt, they’re in awful minimal-wage jobs, they make poor decisions regarding their love lives .etc
For me it’s no doubt ‘Spotify’. Hilarious loading times and lack of functions, in my case for podcast and audio books, which are standard for years in FOSS-players like AntennaPod.
I keep seeing data showing that a huge share of people around 30 can’t afford their own home anymore, not just in the US, but in parts of the EU as well. It seems like homeownership at that age used to be normal, or at least achievable, but now it feels almost out of reach for an entire generation.
Diabetes runs in my family. Almost everyone on my dad’s side of the family has/had it and many of them suffered quite a lot under it. My dad was diagnosed when he was 44 (he’s 75-now and needs insulin shots multiple times a day) and my brother, who is gonna be 40 next year, was diagnosed earlier this year or last year (not sure if he’s insulin dependent or not). I just turned 41 this September and have been riding the “high glucose/pre-diabetic” test results high-wire for the last decade or so. I used to be much more active (pre-COVID) and ate better in the past, but as I get on in my years, I am worried that this is going to become an inevitability even if I were to resume my previous exercise and nutrition regiments.
What is the thought in your head that makes your eyes open wide and bloodshot? The thought that constantly echoes in your head, but you cannot shake off.
I’m assuming everyone here listens to music somewhat regularly, but I’m curious about how much you care about it. And i specifically want to know about your enjoyment regardless if it’s considered a timeless masterpiece or just a meme song.
(feel free to share you favorite artists while respecting other’s tastes)
