YSK chicken sold in supermarkets are often "plumped" with a salt water solution that increases sell weight by up to 30%. A serving can contain up to 500mg of sodium, or 7-10 times what is natural.

Community iconyoushouldknow@lemmy.world by
James_Fortis@lemmy.world

Why YSK: consuming too much sodium can lead to high blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart disease and stroke. In my country (USA), the average daily sodium intake is over 3,300mg, exceeding the recommended maximum of 2,300mg. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends an even lower maximum of 2,000mg.

PSA: The Tesseract frontend includes a hardcoded hidden instance blacklist with all leftist and trans-friendly instances. (github.com)

Community iconfediverse@lemmy.world by

She/Her 6 hours ago

I discovered this after upgrading our instance yesterday, which also upgraded all frontends to their latest versions as well. After I did, our Tesseract frontend stopped working and I noticed immediately as it’s been my primary for a while. Initially I thought it was an API version mismatch, but no, it was much worse.

Lester's going to have the time of his life. What's left of it.

He’ll either have the time of his life, or end up a drained, soulless husk. Or both. Knowing Lester, he’d probably be OK with either result.

Recent boxing title challenger Hannah Rapp killed on bicycle by motorist in Texas (badlefthook.com)

Community iconfuckcars@lemmy.world by
RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world

The affidavit notes the rear hatch of Medina’s car was crushed inward and the rear window was completely shattered. Investigators also documented skid marks from braking and a separate set of skid marks from reversing; the affidavit says the reverse skid marks appeared to show the driver steering toward something while backing up. Medina told deputies he had just left home when he passed two cyclists on the south side of FM 159. He said he heard them yell and saw them throw their hands up, and believed they were trying to flag him down, so he braked hard and came to a stop.

Hi. I am new to Lemmy. Only found out about it yesterday. One person told me about this place and advised to share the game here, saying that this community is less prejudiced and more likely to give feedback about game as an experience, instead of tools it was built with. I am mostly looking for feedback about the story and direction, since my main skill is writing and telling a story.

Once Unimaginable, Publishers Are Preparing to Opt Out of Google Search (adweek.com)

For decades, publishers have done everything in their power, from the legal to the not-explicitly illegal, to rank as highly in Google Search as possible. For many websites, traffic from the search engine was their single greatest source of audience and, as a result, revenue.

I always here everyone talking about how bad they were, and i felt as my first brush with AC2, I’d go ahead and try and get them all.

Beyond CAPTCHAs: How do we keep human‑pretending bots out of the fediverse?

Community iconfediverse@lemmy.world by
CoderSupreme@programming.dev

CAPTCHAs and sign‑up quizzes annoy real people and barely slow down determined bots. As the fediverse grows, we need smarter, more humane defences, ones that don’t push away genuine newcomers. What creative, non‑intrusive ideas do you have? Trust‑based vouching, proof‑of‑humanity protocols, behavioural signals… what feels both effective and aligned with the open social web? I’m building a social media platform and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this topic.
